L'idée d'un chemin de mémoire fut lancée par
Philippe JOSSE, président de l'association Omaha
Beach – Bedford VA, basée sur l'idée de proposer aux
visiteurs des sites du Débarquement en Normandie du
6 juin 1944 des informations et des contenus en
utilisant les nouvelles technologies de l'information,
typiquement avec un smartphone.
Une application en test est accessible à partir de cette page,
comportant une carte indiquant ces lieux, et
comparant la position GPS du smartphone pour
déclencher la possibilité de consulter des contenus
(photos, videos, textes, modèles 3D....).
Afin de définir un cadre géographique, ont été
retenus les lieux d'établissements des 23 postes de
commandement de la 29eme division d'infanterie,
définissant ainsi un itinéraire depuis Vierville-sur-Mer
le 6 juin 1944, jusqu'à Brest, à la mi-septembre.
